This isn't a story about me, but my parents met through ultimate frisbee! My mom was recruited to play on my dad's winter league team. He had the cutest dog ever named Jack-a-roe, and my mom brought her a lamb bone. My dad always says, “The way to a man's heart is through his dog's stomach.” Jeff and Laura lived happily ever after and now have three frisbee-playing kids.

My now-husband and I met on the disc golf course! I was always known for playing solo golf with my dog, she was my best friend. One day in back in 2015, Brandon walked up to me. He said my disc golf bag pocket was open, and he didn’t want anything to fall out of it, and he zipped it back up for me. My dog never liked a lot of people, but she allowed this gentleman on the course and let him pet her.
I thought it was a kind gesture, and started up a conversation with him! We went out on some disc golf dates, but on our first one I backhanded a metal tee sign in my follow through and busted my middle finger. He went and got everything to clean it out and butterfly stitch it together, and then we played 2 more rounds! I didn't expect to hear from him again after that fiasco.
Fast forward to 5 years ago, he asked me to marry him on that very course! The same disc golf hole where he kissed me for the first time.
We got married October 6th, 2018 on hole 1 at Addison Oaks Disc Golf Course in Oakland, Michigan—the same course he proposed on! We even had people make 15ft putts at the wedding, instead of clicking glasses for us to kiss! And we get to represent some amazing sponsors like MVP Disc Sports, Mitten bags, Birdtrapp, and DISCDOTS together as a disc golf couple! They call us the gyro couple!

My S/O and I have been together three years and eight months. We met through disc golf. I had just started really getting into the sport, and one day I was playing Nockamixon Disc Golf Course in PA with a few friends. I lost my favorite driver at the time, an Innova Dragon, on hole 8, deep in the boulders somewhere. I looked for about thirty minutes and then gave up.
A few weeks later, I got a friend request from a guy I didn't know, but I added him because we had a few mutual friends. He messaged me a day later, saying that he found my disc at Nockamixon. I was blown away because the number that was on the back of the disc was an old number, but he took the time to find me on Facebook since I didn’t return his text. We started chatting and I met up with him a few days later to get the disc back. We parted ways but still continued to text each other back and forth. We finally decided to meet up again and play a round at this course in Sellersville, PA. From the get-go, we both felt a strong connection, plus we had the same passion for disc golf as well as other shared interests.
We have been together ever since and I thank god that I lost that disc that day. Otherwise, I would have never met the incredibly positive, selfless, humble, and hardworking guy that I know today and get to call my best friend and the love of my life. Fast forward to today, we are traveling around and playing as many PDGA events as we can, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

My now-boyfriend and I played on the same ultimate team all throughout high school. I had always eyed him from across the field, as he was on the varsity team and I was on JV. I thought he was… stunning. Not only was he good at the game (the fastest kid I know, best cutter alive!) which definitely caught my attention, but he was so handsome!
I fell fast and I fell hard. I started working harder at the sport in an effort to be able to play on the same team as him. I went to extra practices, threw outside of school, got private throwing lessons from some of the older kids. I wanted to be better for myself, but also so I could meet him. Then, one day, we went to a tournament out of state and for some unknown reason, he SAT AT THE SAME TABLE AS ME AT THE TEAM DINNER!!! There was a bit of awkward silence, but as soon as the conversation started flowing, we instantly hit it off and began making jokes. We talked and laughed all night, and I was frantically googling pick-up lines to ask for his phone number. I successfully used one and got his number, and after talking for a few months, we decided to date!
I did eventually play on varsity with him, and I still occasionally play ultimate to this day. We’re now in college, just had our 3 year anniversary, and I can’t wait for Valentine's Day! He’s the best person I’ve ever met, and if it weren’t for ultimate frisbee, we would’ve never met.
